The Oakden Medical Centre offers the Potties & Pillows Clinic on Tuesday to Friday mornings and is run by Dr Michaela Baulderstone.

This clinic is a special bridging service between the patient’s normal GP care & specialist medical care. Patients with further complicating health concerns or with significant co-morbidities will be referred for specialist paediatric care.

Our "potties" service manages & treats daytime & bed wetting, constipation, faecal soiling, UTI's, toilet refusal & general toilet training advice. Michaela has extensive experience managing toileting difficulties & understand the main goal is to successfully support & treat these children for the long term!

The "pillows" service helps to support parents & their 'trickster' infants to develop & maintain sleep routines & patterns. Michaela has completed the 'Sleep Training' course through the Royal Children's Hospital (Melbourne) & can support families to understand their child’s sleep from a developmental perspective, & how to encourage healthy & age appropriate sleep habits.

A referral from the patient’s usual GP is preferred but not essential.
For all other medical care, patients will be referred back to their usual GP.
The first 5 clinic sessions will incur a $60.00 gap payment, whilst any further visits will be bulk billed.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please note Dr Baulderstone will be seeing children with non-organic enuresis or encopresis only with a Mental Health Care Plan.  Please see your referring GP to arrange this. Once the plan is received Dr Baulderstone will triage an appointment.

Children referred with wetting or soiling issues are encouraged to see their GP to exclude a medical cause. A referral to a Paediatrician is encouraged where the cause is not clear. If necessary, children with persistent day or night wets are encouraged to seek referral to a Paediatric Urologist. Similarly children with persistent soiling are encouraged to seek referral to a Paediatric Gastroenterologist.
